Clinical leadership
Dr. Jesús Gustavo Vázquez-Figueroa is an internal medicine physician and founder and medical director of Pickens Urgent Care & Primary Care, serving Jasper, Sandy Springs, and Decatur, Georgia. His background includes hospital medicine, emergency care, and primary care, with a focus on prevention and the management of acute and chronic conditions.
He earned his medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. He completed internal medicine training at Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI and cardiology training at the Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez in Mexico City. In the United States, he pursued cardiovascular imaging training at Piedmont Heart Institute and completed his internal medicine residency at Atlanta Medical Center. He holds board certifications in internal medicine and cardiovascular computed tomography.
His research has focused on cardiovascular imaging, coronary artery disease, and atherosclerosis. He has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and presented research at national and international medical meetings. During his residency at Atlanta Medical Center, he received the Edwin C. Evans Award for Outstanding House Officer.
Through his work at Pickens Urgent Care & Primary Care, Dr. Vázquez-Figueroa aims to make medical care accessible and easier to understand. He values listening to patients, explaining findings clearly, and developing practical treatment plans together. He communicates in English, Spanish, and Portuguese to help patients feel comfortable discussing their health.
With ten years in hospital and emergency medicine, Dr. Vázquez-Figueroa has a deep understanding of what exceptional patient care looks like in critical moments. That experience allows him to make swift, informed decisions so every person who walks through our doors receives the highest level of medical attention.
